How to Talk in Loud Environments
Communication is essential to our daily lives, but talking can be hard in loud environments such as bars, public transportation, or restaurants. Sometimes, a message is too urgent to postpone. Besides raising your voice, there are also other ways to get your point across in a loud room.

1
Speak loudly, or even yell, to be heard over the din. While it may be uncomfortable, it is often necessary to raise your voice.
-
2
Text message the person that you would like to talk to.

3
Learn sign language, or develop a similar form of visual communication among your friends. Simple gestures and body language, such as a thumbs up, can help pass along general impressions regardless of noise.
-
4
Pass a note. In addition to being a concise form of communication, writing allows us to review our message before delivering it.
-
5
Mouth your words carefully, nodding or shaking your head to emphasize the movement of your mouth. Though lip-reading ability varies from person to person, most people can get the gist of slow, basic sentences.

Tips & Warnings
Be conscious of your environment while yelling, texting, using sign language, passing notes, or mouthing words; in some cases, those around you may find these forms rude or exclusive means of communicating.
With especially important information, double-check that the person you are communicating with understands what you mean. Sometimes mouthing words can cause confusion or misconception.
Texting while driving, walking, or operating machinery is dangerous and may be illegal depending on your location. Check local laws and exercise good judgment.
