How to Find Wireless Internet
If you're using a PDA device, or computer that is Wi-Fi compatible, then you may be able to find Wi-Fi, locations to connect to the Internet for free or for a fee. There are also websites and software you can download that will consistently help you find Internet signals.

Download an Internet signal search application. This software looks for wireless routers in your area, informs you if they require a password and displays the signal strength. Inssider is an example of a free Internet signal software that can be downloaded from Download.com.

Open the software application and review the list of wireless networks in your area. Look for networks that have the strongest signal strength, which is depicted by either percents or signal bars, similar to the signal strength on a cell phone.

Open the wireless network on your computer, which resembles the signal bars on a cell phone, located on the lower right of your screen in Windows. Search for the same network that you found in your Internet signal software to connect to the wireless network.

Access a website that will tell you where the free Wi-Fi spots are located. For example, Jiwire.com and Wififreespot.com provide access to free Wi-Fi spots in cafés, hotels and other places based on your current location.

Click the state where you are located for a listing of the various Wi-Fi spots within that state.

Narrow your search by locating your current city. Specific wireless Internet locations will be listed or, if the wireless Internet search tool is map based, you may press the "+" button on the map to zoom to your current location.
