How to Make Eiffel Tower Floral Arrangements

Create a dramatic statement at your wedding or event by offering tall Eiffel Tower vase flower arrangements. These are basically centerpieces on top of a tall, thin, tapered vase. Add a few drops of food coloring to water and pour it in the vases to fit your color scheme. Also, you can alternate tall centerpieces with standard low centerpieces -- both using the same flowers -- to give more dimension to your event space.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose the Eiffel Tower vase height. The vases come in a variety of heights, so select the appropriate one for your event. A shorter vase, such as 16 inches, might work on a buffet table, but dinner-table vase should be much taller, at least 24 inches, to allow people to see each other under the flowers.

    • 2

Hydrate the flowers. Cut about an inch off the bottom of each stem at a 45-degree angle, and soak the flowers in buckets of water for several hours -- overnight is ideal.

    • 3

Soak the floral foam in water for at least 15 minutes. If you're using a bouquet holder, soak the entire holder in water. If you're using a centerpiece bowl, cut the floral foam to fit inside the bowl and secure it in the bowl with florist tape.

    • 4

Attach the bouquet holder or centerpiece bowl to the top of the vase. Insert the post into the narrow top of the vase, and secure using green florist tape.

    • 5

Cut your greenery short, about 6 to 8 inches. Insert the greenery stems into the floral foam, starting by following the outer edge of the circle. The longer greenery should hang down slightly to camouflage the bowl or holder and any tape. Continue adding greenery around the circle, layering it so the shorter stems are near the top. At the top of the centerpiece, place short stems standing straight up.

    • 6

Add your flowers to the arrangement. Follow the shape of the greenery, and cut the flowers to extend just slightly past the greenery at the top. Add large, focal-point flowers first, such as lilies or spider mums. Spread them evenly around the arrangement. Add other important flowers next, such as roses or calla lilies. Fill in with carnations, daisies or filler flowers such as baby's breath or solidago.

    • 7

Add feathers. Use a few feathers draping around the bottom to help disguise the bowl or bouquet holder.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use more than one type of greenery for a more finished look.

  • Make the centerpiece the day of your event. Floral foam provides a limited amount of water to the flowers, so they won't last more than a few hours after being placed in the foam.
