If you accidentally installed the Internet Explorer 8 update and want to revert to Internet Explorer 7, you can do so. This will automatically revert you to Internet Explorer 7 and all of the Internet Explorer 7 updates that are currently installed on your computer. Internet Explorer 8 will not properly uninstall on any computers running Windows XP service pack 3.

Instructions

      Click "Start." Scroll to "Control Panel" and click on it.

      Click "Programs," then "Programs and Features."

      Navigate to the left plane and locate the button that reads "View Installed Updates." Click on this button.

      Scroll through the window until you locate the line that reads "Internet Explorer 8." Highlight the line and click "Uninstall." Follow the pop-up window's instructions.

      Click on the "Windows" button, and select "Shut Down." Click "Restart."
