A collage of your new one helps capture all the fleeting moments of babyhood.

The birth of a baby is a momentous occasion for a family and an experience of great joy. It expands the number of family members with a brand new person who will evolve and change with time. Babies begin evolving and changing rather rapidly. The importance of taking and celebrating photos of the baby is profound. The pictures not only document the changes that the child is going through but they also serve to help you remember that baby at his tiniest and cutest moments. A photo collage can help embrace this journey.

Instructions

    • 1

Select the item to mount the collage. It can be simple like a canvas or poster board, or more inventive like a storage box, trunk or even a chair.

    • 2

Gather your pictures of the baby and trim away superfluous items around the pictures. Trim each picture so you have a tight, central image of the infant.

    • 3

Arrange the pictures all around the item you intend to make the focus of the collage. Experiment with their layout until your find a design you like best.

    • 4

Type and print out words in various fonts to add to the cheer of the collage. For example, words like "Heartbreaker" or "Mama's Boy" or "Future Concert Pianist" are all appropriate. Cut out and trim each word neatly around the letters. Experiment with suitable places to position the words on the collage.

    • 5

Apply a thin layer of glue to the back of each image and word, and press it down in its rightful place. Allow the glue to set for 20 minutes.

    • 6

Measure each surface of the item you have glued the images upon. Cut your laminating paper to those dimensions. Peel off the protective backing from the laminating paper and apply each sheet to each surface of your collage, very slowly, applying a fraction of an inch at a time.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your collage is on a piece of posterboard or canvas, feel free to frame it.

  • Consider incorporating pictures of some of your child's favorite toys and colors into the collage.
