    • 1

Choose decorated recipe cards or use blank ones you can customize yourself.

    • 2

Write a recipe on the front of the card that is relevant to the occasion. For instance, for a barbecue theme party, write your favorite recipe for potato salad. For a Christmas dinner, write a recipe for a holiday casserole or vegetable dish.

    • 3

Put party details on the back of the recipe card. Use wording such as "Ready to Get Cooking?" or "Let's Celebrate With Food And Friends." Put the information needed on the card using gel pens or fine-tipped markers. Write up the party details as if it were a recipe. Under a a heading such as "Perfect Party Ingredients," list "ingredients" such as the party guests, food and fun. For the directions to make the dish, talk about how to get to the party, where it is located and if the guest needs to bring a dish or dessert. Be creative.

Decorate the recipe cards if they aren't decorated already. Find cooking-themed scrapbook stickers or rubber stamps at a craft store and use them to adorn your invitations.

    • 5

Put a blank recipe card behind the invitation card, and invite guests to write down their favorite recipe to bring to the host of the party. This recipe can relate to the theme, such as a pizza recipe for an Italian-themed party. If it's a bridal shower, guests can put their favorite meal recipe so the bride can begin to get cooking ideas for her new life.

Place cards in envelopes that fit them and mail your culinary party invitations. For extra fun, hand-deliver the invitations and send along a favor such as a spatula, whisk or cupcake liners. Tie festive ribbon around a wooden spoon. Punch a hole in a corner of the recipe card invitation and tie it to the ribbon. Purchase paper chef hats at a party store or restaurant supply store to send along with the invites.
