Use a VGA cable to connect your HP DV6100 laptop to your Sony high definition television.

The Hewlett-Packard DV6100 laptop contains a VGA port so you can connect your computer with digital televisions. Although the lack of a Digital Visual Interface (DVI) port and High-Definition Multimedia Interface port (HDMI) port on the DV6100 make it impossible for the laptop to display true high definition on a Sony HDTV, you still view digital images, video and your desktop on the TV.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the back of your Sony HDTV to see if it has a VGA port. The port should have three rows of five pin holes.

    • 2

Connect your VGA cable to your laptop.

    • 3

Connect the other side of the VGA cable to the VGA port on your Sony HDTV.

    • 4

Change the input on your Sony to "PC" by pressing the "Input" button on your television's remote.

Tips & Warnings

  • Many Sony HDTV VGA ports do not have ports for the screws in the VGA cable. Check your HDTV before attempting to screw in the VGA cable.

  • If your Sony HDTV's input menu does not have a "PC" option, select "VGA."
