How to Donate a Copier in VA

Copiers in good condition can make small businesses happy.

Photocopiers are a necessary business item for small businesses, non-profits and large corporations alike. When you upgrade your office equipment, don't trash that old copier. Finding a Virginia-area charity to take it nets you a federal tax break and ensures working photocopiers stay out of landfills. Choose the donation option that suits your schedule, then make donation arrangements. Get a tax receipt from the charity or donee to use for tax deduction later.

Instructions

1. Fill out the online donor form to give your old copier to Good360, located in Alexandria, VA. (giftsinkind.org). Once someone at Good360 reviews your donor form, they'll call you to discuss the details and make transportation arrangements.

2. List the copier on recycles.org to gift it to Virginia non-profits (recycles.org). Create a free online listing of your donation, then wait for interested charities to request the copier and provide contact information. Accept the request you like, then make arrangements to drop off the copier.

3. Check with your local branch of Goodwill Industries to see if they need photocopiers (goodwillcva.org). Goodwill accepts some business equipment and furniture, but may not be able to use all copiers and may turn some down due to size. If they can use your donated equipment, bring it to the nearest Goodwill during their open hours.
