How to Run a T-Test With an Excel 2007 Data Analysis Pack

When you have to organize and interpret data between numeric responses and categories, the T-Test is the best option for determining a correlation (if any exists) with your data. Normally, Microsoft Excel is incapable of performing a T-test with its spreadsheet software, but with the Data Analysis add-on, you can use it as a calculation and statistic generation program.

  • Click the "Data" ribbon in Excel 2007, then click "Data Analysis."

  • Click the T-Test type you want to use in the box that appears.

  • Click and drag the cursor over the categories and numbers you want to use.

  • Enter the alpha required for your test in the "probability" field.

  • Click "OK" to generate results.
