How to Kill Carpenter Ants With Orange Oil
Carpenter ants inside a home are both unsanitary and unsightly, both of which are reasons enough to kill them. But what's more, they will also burrow through the wood inside the house's walls and weaken the foundation over time. One way to kill carpenter ants is by using orange oil acquired from a drugstore or grocery store. Orange oil works by dissolving the exoskeletons of ants, causing them to dehydrate and asphyxiate. Walk around the house looking for sawdust trails going up against the baseboards of a wall; this indicates that carpenter ants are entering/exiting from the wall at this location.

Moisten a paper towel with tap water. Wipe the floor with the towel to remove the sawdust. Dry the floor with a dry paper towel.

Saturate an edge of a rag with the orange oil.

Place the moistened edge of the rag against the the floor where it meets the baseboard at the spot where the carpenter ants are emerging.

Run the rag across the length of the floor, against the baseboard, so that the area where the ants are coming out of is coated with the oil. Reapply the oil to the rag as needed in order to build up a layer of oil on the floor

Apply orange oil to the other locations where there are sawdust trails, using the rag in the same manner.

Check the moisture of the layer of orange oil you have placed down every day with your finger. Reapply the orange oil to the floor where it has been applied earlier when the oil has evaporated.
