How to Tie a Tie for a Kilt
Kilts are often worn to formal occasions, such as weddings and galas. These events are the perfect moment to combine a kilt, a formal jacket and cleanly tied tie. The Windsor Knot, a large square knot tying technique, will go well with the formal kilt look. While it is common for men to wear bow ties with kilts, the traditional long tie will bring a fresh, and romantic appeal to the formal kilt look. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Drape the tie around your neck with the narrow end on your left and the wide end on your right, with the right end hanging about 12" below the narrow end.
-
2
Pull the wide end on the right over the narrow end on the left and push the wide end up and between the tie and the collar of the shirt. Pull the wide end down towards the left so that it overlaps with the narrow end.
-
-
3
Wrap the wide end back and behind the narrow end pulling to the right. Pull the wide end of the tie over the narrow end and back to the left.
-
4
Push the wide end of the tie up and behind the tie knot, in between the collar and the knot, so that the wide end comes up and out of the top of the neckline.
-
5
Push the wide end of the tie through the front wrap created in Steps 3 and 4 and pull down. Use both hands to secure the wide end in place and pull the knot tight and secure.
-
6
Make sure the tie does not hang too low. Retie with less of the wide end hanging down in Step 1 if necessary. Kilts should be worn along the belly button line, and a long tie will interfere with this wardrobe style.
