For some, it can be difficult to attend Catholic mass on Sunday despite their best efforts to do so. Whether because of time constraints, travel difficulties or other reasons, it may not always be possible to attend a Catholic mass. Fortunately, there are other ways to fulfill your obligation to attend mass, despite being unable to be there in person.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to a website that offers the mass online, such as EWTN, themass.org, or the dailymass.com.

    • 2

Check the mass times to ensure that you can watch the mass for the current day, not a previous day's recording. The current day's mass is available at dailymass.com by 3 p.m. on Sundays, and 11 a.m. Central time Monday through Friday. At themass.org, the current mass is available Sundays at 7 p.m., and Monday through Friday at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time. EWTN broadcasts the mass each day at 12 a.m., 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. Weekday masses also can be seen at 7 p.m. Eastern time.

Tips & Warnings

  • Although being attentive to an online broadcast of the mass will fulfill your Sunday obligation as a Catholic, it will not fulfill your obligation to receive the sacrament of the Eucharist.
