How to Get Spartan Laser Infinite Ammo on Last Level of Halo 3
In the final level of "Halo 3," Sergeant Johnson eventually acquires a Spartan laser with infinite ammo. This is not a glitch, but rather a weapon that he is supposed to have. Normally, his version of the weapon should not be accessible to the player, but there is a way to get his infinite-ammo version of the laser before you would normally be given the limited-ammo version.
Instructions

1
Go to the top of the tower in Halo, where Sergeant Johnson is firing on the Flood from a cliff. Do not kill the Flood yet.
-
2
Knock Sergeant Johnson off the cliff with a rocket launcher or grenade; he will drop his Spartan laser as he falls.
-
-
3
Pick up the Spartan laser Johnson dropped. This is not the infinite-ammo version, but you must pick this version up to get the infinite-ammo version to spawn.
-
4
Kill Sergeant Johnson, who will not stay dead. When he comes back to life, he will possess the infinite-ammo Spartan laser.
-
5
Kill Sergeant Johnson again; he will drop his new laser.
-
6
Pick up the dropped Spartan laser. Although it displays a charge of 100, the charge does not deplete when the weapon is fired, allowing the laser to be used indefinitely.

Tips & Warnings
It is more useful to leave the infinite-ammo Spartan laser outside the control room than to take it inside to fight 343 Guilty Spark. You get a new Spartan laser inside the control room to kill him, making the infinite-ammo version less useful during this boss fight --- and if you leave the infinite-ammo version outside the control room, you can use it to finish the remainder of the level.
The Arbiter might become hostile and start attacking you when you kill Sergeant Johnson. If so, this poses a significant danger to you --- the Arbiter has an energy sword that can kill you in one hit.
