How to Make a Scrapbook for a 40th Birthday
A scrapbook consists of photos and paper keepsakes glued to decorative, embellished pages. They make great gifts for most people, especially those who are sentimental and celebrating a milestone in their life. If you plan on making a scrapbook for someone's 40th birthday, consider dividing the book into four sections and dedicating each section to a decade in the person's life.

1
Gather all the photos you want to use in your scrapbook and group them by decade. If you have paper keepsakes you want to include, such as concert tickets or receipts for significant purchases, sort them by decade as well.
-
2
Experiment with the layout of the scrapbook without gluing or taping anything down. Decide which photos to group together on a page, which piece of scrapbook paper looks best with the photos and what embellishments would help enhance the overall appearance. You can also decide to decorate one side of a scrapbook page then place two pages back to back in each slip.

3
Tape photos to your first page with double sided tape. Although glue is less expensive and makes the job go quicker, it can make the pages heavier and the paper can become wavy where the glue was applied.
Some people like to measure everything, such as the distance from each photo to the edge of the page. This is not necessary but will help your pages look cleaner. If you don't want to measure, consider placing photos on angles so that unequal spacings are less noticeable.

4
Decorate your first page. This can involve adding boarders, framing pictures with sticker frames or photo corners, adding various embellishments and writing captions or page titles.
-
5
Continue making pages until you have used all of the photos you want included in your scrapbook.
-
6
Make 4 title pages, one for each section of the scrapbook. Decorate these pages any way you like.
-
7
Arrange your pages in the order you want them, starting each section with the appropriate title page.
-
8
Wrap the scrapbook and present it to your loved one on his 40th birthday.
