How to Steal Bases in "Major League Baseball 2K10"

"Major League Baseball 2K10" is the eighth video game in the baseball-simulator series. This multiplatform edition features increased batting and pitching controls, with heightened swing function and new pitch selection. "Major League Baseball 2K10" also contains a comprehensive base-running system. If you've got a fast player on the bag, you can steal bases successfully. Lead-offs and proper timing can be the difference between a stolen base and a pickoff, so you should determine your actions by the pitcher's motions.

Instructions

    • 1

Select the base runner you want to use for your steal attempt. Press the A button for Xbox 360, or the X button for PlayStation3, when your batter is at the plate. This will switch your control from the batter to the runner.

    • 2

Hold the LT shoulder button for Xbox, or L1 for PS3, to prepare for a steal. When the runner takes his lead-off, the controller will vibrate.

    • 3

Begin the steal by releasing LT or L1 when the pitcher lifts his leg during his throwing motion. Your runner will slide automatically when he reaches the stolen base.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the pitcher attempts to pick off your runner before the steal attempt, repeatedly press RB or RT for Xbox, or R1 or R2 for PS3, to get him back to the bag.

  • Players with a 90 speed rating or higher have a much better chance at base-stealing. Before each game, you can also scout the throwing speed and accuracy of the opposing team's catcher.
