How to Decorate Frosting With Egg Whites
If you have frosted your cake and want to create flowers or other decorations to adorn your cake, you can make a royal icing with egg whites. Royal icing dries stiff, so it is good for making flowers or petals to be placed on top of the cake. You can also spread it on cookies to create frosted cookies. The icing dries to a shiny, hard surface on cookies, making it ideal for decorating cookie-cutter sugar cookies. Does this Spark an idea?

Separate the yolk from two eggs. Let the whites fall into the bowl of an electric mixer or a medium bowl. Place the egg yolks in a container with a lid and put it in the refrigerator to use in another recipe later.

Add 2 tsp. fresh lemon juice to the egg whites. Mix with stand or hand mixer until the two ingredients are combined.

Add 3 cups confectioner's sugar to the bowl. Beat on a low speed until the frosting is smooth.

Put the frosting into a pastry bag and create flowers or whatever decorations you desire for your cake. Store the unused frosting in a covered container immediately or it will get hard quickly if it is exposed to air.
