Automatic updates offer a convenient way to ensure that the software on your iPhone is always the latest version. However, you may want to prevent them to help conserve space or to keep the installation process from interrupting your day. You can disable the automatic update option and then install updates at a more convenient time. Keep in mind that without the automatic update service, you won't get security and bug improvements until you manually update to the latest version of iOS 7. This can put your phone at risk to new security threats.
Tap the "Settings" app on your iPhone.
Select the "iTunes and App Store" option. You may need to provide your Apple ID credentials to sign in.
Set the "Updates" toggle switch to the "Off" position. You can also disable automatic downloads for music, apps and books by setting the relevant toggle switches.
