If your DVD does not play automatically, go to My Computer and double click on the DVD in the drive. If you have an issue seeing the DVD, you may have a problem with your DVD drive or the software. If it is the software, you should still be able to see the DVD and should be able to open its files on your computer. If you cannot play it by double clicking on the DVD, you will need to update the software or get new software online.

Check your available digital media programs for updates. If you are using Windows as your operating system you will have a program called Windows Media Player or Windows Media Center. If you are using an Apple or Mac PC, you will have a program called Quick Time or DVD Player. Whichever operating system you use, you may need to update this in order to play DVD's. Do so by going to the operating system's homepage and downloading the necessary updates.

If you do not have one of these programs, or if you dislike the current programs on your computer, there are alternatives. One of the easiest ways to watch any digital media file is to download a program called VideoLan Client (VLC). This is a free program and runs every type of video file you will encounter. Go to the VLC website to download and install the program. Once installed, you will be given the option of running future video files through VLC. This will automaticlly open DVD's once you place them in your computer.
