How to Remove Default Spacing in MS Word 2007

Microsoft Word 2007 changed the default spacing used in previous versions, such that spacing is increased between paragraphs and between lines within paragraphs. However, Word 2007 includes an easy adjustment if you prefer the old format. You also have the option to change the Word 2007 default to match whatever style you currently have applied.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Home" tab in Word 2007.

    • 2

Click "Change Styles" in the "Styles" group, point to "Style Set" and click "Word 2003." This removes the default Word 2007 spacing in your entire document and replaced it with the older Word 2003 default spacing.

    • 3

Click "Change Styles" again, and click "Set as Default" to permanently remove the Word 2007 default spacing and replace it with the Word 2003 default.
