How to Plan a Wedding Theme in a Certain Color
A wedding theme is important because it sets the mood for the whole affair. Wedding planners and brides usually work with several colors to achieve a certain look. A wedding theme often revolves around the season you marry in. A winter theme can be composed of silver, white and blue. Autumn or fall colors will have varying hues of orange and yellow. Spring and summer might include bright colors like red, purple and pink.

1
Choose a location for your wedding. When selecting a wedding theme, you must consider the space, existing décor or color of the venue. Working with an empty space will allow you more creativity in picking the color scheme for your wedding.
-
2
Mix colors. Flipping through bridal magazines and visiting fabric stores will help you in choosing what colors go well together. If you can't decide on just two colors, don't worry because some weddings incorporate three to five colors or more.

3
Incorporate the color scheme you have chosen into your wedding invitation design. Wedding invitation designers have paper swatches to match the color scheme you have chosen. The wedding invitation can give your guests an idea of the color scheme or type of wedding you will have.
-
4
Show the fabric or color swatches to your dress designer so that she can match the gowns or dresses of the bridesmaids and flower girls. A dress does not have to be in one color, you can mix and match another color through a sash around the waist. Groomsmen can sport colors in their ties or cufflinks as well.
-
5
Incorporate the theme colors into the wedding cake. White icing can serve as an excellent background for your colorful designs. Sugar paste can be used to create flowers, polka dots, stripes or even intricate designs that reflect the color of your wedding theme.
-
6
Pick flowers that have a variety of colors such as tulips, roses and carnations and match them to your color theme. Your florist will be able to give you two or three arrangements to choose from for your bouquet, corsages and centerpieces.
-
7
Use the wedding colors in other areas such as wedding favors. Favors such as candies, jellybeans, chocolate wrappers, and mints can be wrapped in packages using the wedding colors. You can also choose ribbons and gift tags with the wedding colors to complete the look.
-
8
Ask your caterer or hotel food and beverage manager if they have available tablecloths and table runners that will work well with your wedding theme. If not, you can always use the white tablecloth and use floral centerpieces to incorporate your wedding theme or colors.
