How to Lower the Ringer Volume on a VTech 5.8

Save

Vtech offers several 5.8 gigahertz cordless phone models. Some models have the ability to ring from both the handsets and the base unit. The ringer volume settings for the handsets and base are independent of each other. Users can set the ringer volume for the handsets through the menus, or by pressing the volume buttons. The base unit volume can only be changed through the menus.

Base Ringer

  • Press the "Set Up" button until you hear the base unit announce the ringer volume setting.

  • Press the "Skip" or "Repeat" button until the base unit display shows the volume level you want. The settings are "Hi" for maximum volume, "Lo" for low volume and "Off" for no ringer.

  • Press the "Play/Stop" button to exit the menu.

Handset Volume

  • Press the "Vol Up" or "Vol Down" button while the handset is idle to display the current ringer volume.

  • Press the "Vol Up" to increase the ringer volume, press "Vol Down" to decrease the ringer volume. The handset will save the setting automatically.

  • Change the ringer volume through the handset menu by pressing the center "Nav" key, then pressing the up or down directional arrow until the screen displays "Ringer Volume." Press the center "Nav" key, then change the volume using the up and down directional buttons. Press the center "Nav" key to save the setting.

Tips & Warnings

  • On some handsets, you may need to press the "Prog" button instead of the "Nav" button to access the menu.
