How to Make an Ice Theme

Decorations set the scene for birthday parties, weddings, receptions and fundraiser galas. A popular method of decorating is to set the theme parallel to the season. If you want a winter theme, design your decorations using snow and ice as your inspiration, with cool colors such as a white, silver and different shades of blue. Create an ice theme by combining wall decorations with table decorations to evoke a feeling of a winter wonderland.

Instructions

    • 1

Hang streamers across the ceiling or along the walls. Alternate white with light and dark blues to create more depth in the color and to evoke winter imagery. Tape the streamers to the wall if you cannot tie them off on something.

    • 2

Hang plastic icicles and snowflakes from the ceiling. Either tape the decorations to the ceiling or use the hooks that came with them if the ceiling allows for it (cork tiles, for instance).

    • 3

Put tablecloths on your tables. You can layer white on blue, or blue on white if you have enough tablecloths for each table.

    • 4

Create a centerpiece for the tables with blue and white votive candles and plastic snowflakes and icicles. You can also place your centerpiece or candles on white paper or cloth doilies, which work well for winter themes because they resemble snowflakes.

    • 5

Hang white twinkle lights where they fit best. Now that the room is decorated, you can see what needs a little more shimmer. Hang the lights around the streamers or around the tables to finish your ice theme decorating.
