A 4X PC game, "Civilization V" introduces the ability to rename certain parts of your vastly growing empire--namely cities, units and leaders. Units accept name changes when they level up, leaders take names before you start the game, and you can overhaul your city name whenever you want.
At any time, click the name of the city you want to change. This opens its expanded view, revealing an "Edit" button beneath its name. Click this and change the name to anything you want.
Unlike cities, units can only change their names at certain points in the game. Your unit needs to gain enough experience to level, such as by fighting other units. Before you reward your unit with an instant heal or stat upgrade, click "Edit" underneath its unit name to help differentiate it from your other units. The original name will appear in parentheses beside your custom name so you don't forget what kind of unit it is.
Renaming the Leader
Unlike units and cities, leaders and civilizations have permanent names that do not change once the game has begun. When setting up a game, click "Edit" to change the name of your leader, the full name of your civilization, the abbreviated version and your citizens' demonym. For example, you could create the French Republic, also known as France, with the demonym "French" in reference to its people.
