Dehydrated cheese is a powder mixture that is most commonly found in macaroni and cheese boxes. The powder is inexpensive and can make a delicious cheese sauce if cooked using the proper method. By adding a few extra ingredients that are easy to find and use, you can make a fast and very cheap cheese sauce that goes great in casseroles, over the tops of vegetables or mixed with rice or pasta.   • 1/2 stick unsalted butter
  • Medium saucepan
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • Whisk
  • 1 cup dehydrated cheese powder
  • All-purpose flour

Instructions

      Melt 1/2 stick unsalted butter in a medium sized saucepan over medium heat.

      Pour 1 3/4 cups milk and 1/4 cup hot water into the melted butter.

      Pour 1 cup of dehydrated cheese powder into the saucepan, using a whisk to blend the mixture well. Bring to a simmer.

      Stir constantly until the sauce thickens and begins to bubble.
