How to Cut With Forceps thumbnail
Certain forceps are good for making small incisions.

Forceps are commonly used by both medical technicians and hobbyists. Forceps are used in hospitals for a variety of surgical procedures. Forceps are made either of stainless steel or disposable plastic. Hospitals use stainless-steel forceps because stainless steel can be easily sterilized. Some model builders and other hobbyists use forceps for configuring models and other tiny objects.

Choose the right forceps for the job. Obtain a pair of cutting forceps, varieties of which include wire-cutting forceps, bone forceps, hemostatic forceps and suture forceps.

    • 2

Fit your hand into the forceps by putting your thumb in one of the two holes and your index or middle finger in the other. For larger forceps, try using two hands and firmly grip the handles.

    • 3

Clamp down on the object you are cutting. Use the forceps like you would a pair of scissors and cut along the object.
