How to Sync iPhone Mail Settings

The iPhone operating system, known as iOS, features a Mail app for sending and receiving messages through multiple email accounts. Although you can manually configure new email accounts directly on your iPhone, you can choose to use data from your Mac computer instead. The iTunes program is capable of syncing your email settings from the Mail app on your computer to the Mail app on your iPhone.

Things You'll Need

  • Mac running OS X 10.5 or later
  • iPhone USB cable
  • Launch the iTunes application on your Mac computer.

  • Connect your iPhone to your computer using an iPhone USB cable.

  • Highlight the name of your iPhone under the "Devices" heading on the left side of the window.

  • Go to the "Info" tab at the top of the iPhone configuration page.

  • Check the box next to "Sync selected Mail accounts."

  • Place a checkmark next to the names of the email accounts that you want to sync with your iPhone.

  • Press the "Apply" or "Sync" button in the lower-right corner of the window to save the settings and sync your mail accounts' settings with your iPhone.
