How to Print a Legal Word Doc on Letter Paper
Microsoft Word documents may be created using a variety of preformatted paper sizes. You are also able to customize a paper size to suit a particular need. If you receive a Word document formatted for legal-sized paper but you do not have legal-sized paper in your printer, a way exists to change the document so that it prints on letter-sized paper.

Open the Word document. Click the Microsoft "Office" button, and select the "Open" option. Use the arrows in the navigation bar to select the folder in which the legal-sized DOC is saved. Highlight the DOC file and click the "Open" button.

Click the "Microsoft Office" button and select the "Print" option. This action will launch the Print dialog window.

Click the "Scale to Paper Size" drop-down menu in the "Zoom" section, and select the "Letter" option. This action will adjust the document to fit on letter-sized paper. Click the "OK" button to print the document.
