MyWebSearch reduces your available system memory.

MyWebSearch is an Internet toolbar created by Fun Web Products. The toolbar is designed to improve Internet searches. However, MyWebSearch also slows your computer and tracks your Internet searches. Thus, it is often classified as spyware. There are two ways to remove MyWebSearch from your Mozilla Firefox browser: through the Extensions manager and through Windows Defender, a free anti-spyware program created by Microsoft that is included in the Windows Vista and 7 operating systems.

Instructions

  1. Extensions Manager

    • 1

      Open Mozilla Firefox.

    • 2

Click "Tools," "Add-Ons" and "Extensions." The Extensions window opens.

    • 3

      Click "MyWebSearch" and click "Uninstall."

    • 4

      Restart Mozilla Firefox.

    Windows Defender

    • 5

Click "Start," "All Programs" and "Windows Defender." Windows Defender opens.

    • 6

      Click "Tools" and "Options."

    • 7

Check the box next to "Check for updated definitions before scanning" and click "Save."

    • 8

Click the down arrow next to "Scan" and select "Full Scan" from the drop-down menu. Windows Defender scans your entire computer and removes any spyware programs it detects, including MyWebSearch. This may take anywhere from several minutes to several hours.
