How to Play Diablo 2 Without a Play Disk

"Diablo 2" was released by Blizzard Entertainment in 2000. When it was first released, "Diablo 2" required the "Play" disc to be in your PC's disc tray at all times while the game was in use. However, with Blizzard's own Battle.Net service, the disc is no longer needed. If you have lost your "Play" disc, but still have your CD-Key, you can register and download the game from the Battle.Net website.

Instructions

    • 1

      Navigate to the Battle.Net website.

    • 2

Click "Account" at the top of the screen.

    • 3

Enter your name and password and click "Log in."

    • 4

Click the "Manage Games" tab. Click "Add or Upgrade a Game."

    • 5

      Click "Activate a Game Key."

    • 6

Enter the CD-Key found on the inside of your Diablo 2 disc case. Click "Activate Game." The game is now added to your account.

    • 7

Click the arrow next to "Diablo 2" under the "Classic Games" tab, found under the "Your Game Accounts" section of your Battle.Net account.

    • 8

Click either the "Windows" or "Mac" icon to download that version of the game client.

    • 9

Double-click the downloaded file to install and play the game.
