Instructions

    • 1

Cut a hole in the bottom of the box large enough to fit both legs and comfortably move and walk.

    • 2

Trim the top flaps of the box so they are 12 inches tall. Cut the sides of each flap at an angle to taper the sides toward the top of each flap so that the top is narrower than at the fold of the flap.

    • 3

Wrap and glue the butcher paper around the entire box, including the top flaps.

    • 4

Untwist the wire hanger and pull apart so that it forms two right angles to make the handle. Bend 2 inches of each end of the hanger toward each other to form two more right angles. Push one 2-inch end of the hanger into the left side of the box and push the other end into the right side, so that the ends have poked through to the inside of the box. Bend the ends on the inside of the box so they lay flat, and cover with packing tape.

    • 5

Cut two inch-long horizontal slits in the center of the front and back of the box, 12 inches apart.

    • 6

Thread one ribbon starting from inside the right slit on the front of the box to the outside of the slit on the back left of the box to make a shoulder strap. Repeat with the other ribbon from the left slit on the front to the right slit on the back so the ribbons cross over each other to make the other strap. Knot the ends of the ribbons on the inside of the box and cover with small pieces of packing tape to secure.

Tips & Warnings

  • Cut Chinese designs out of red paper and glue onto the box, if you wish.
