Track the shipping of your online purchases right from your computer.

Shopping online is such a convenience, you can order gifts or items you need without ever leaving the comfort of your own home. Another benefit is the ability to order items from an establishment not located in your city or state. When you make a purchase online you receive a confirmation email detailing your order. Once your order ships you will receive a second email providing the tracking number of your package, which you can use to track your packages online.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the email sent to you by the company you purchased items from online. Open the email to obtain the tracking number of your shipment as well as the shipping company used to ship your package.

    • 2

Visit the website of the shipping company used. Commonly used companies include the United States Postal Service (USPS), Federal Express (FedEx) and the United Parcel Service (UPS). Locate the shipment tracking link on the homepage of the shipping company website and click on it.

    • 3

Enter the tracking number located on your package and click "Track". The results page shows when your item was shipped, where it is currently located and when it is expected to arrive at your address. If you receive an error message, check to see that you entered the correct tracking number. Otherwise, check the tracking number at a later time. Shipment information sometimes takes several hours to update online.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some online stores allow you to click on the tracking number in the shipment email sent to you. Doing this directs you to the tracking information page of the shipping company website, immediately showing you the shipping information for your purchase.
