You can make a seashell wreath for beach-themed decor.

If you enjoy decorating your home in a beach or seaside theme, you may find that store-bought beach-themed decorations are too expensive for your budget. However, you can make your own beach-themed home decorations using a few materials that can be collected along a beach and purchased at a craft supply store. For example, you can create a seashell wreath that will make your bathroom or living room look like it is a beach-side resort.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a hot glue stick into a hot glue gun, then plug the hot glue gun into an electrical outlet to heat for 10 minutes.

    • 2

Place a foam florist's ring onto a flat surface.

    • 3

Wrap raffia around the entire foam ring, covering it completely. Tie the ends of the raffia together onto the back of the ring to secure the raffia and to disguise the ends.

    • 4

Cut out a piece of twine netting to measure 36 inches long. Drape the netting around the raffia-covered ring, applying hot glue dollops as you wrap to hold the netting in place. Allow the hot glue to cool for 2 to 3 minutes.

    • 5

Squeeze dollops of hot glue randomly around the front of the wreath, and press seashells and small dried starfish onto the hot glue dollops. Hold the seashells and starfish in place for 2 to 3 minutes so the hot glue can cool and harden.
