Instructions

  1. Set-Up

    • 1

Pick a dealer by choosing a card from the deck. The player with the highest number is the dealer. Face cards are worth 0.

    • 2

Shuffle the cards and deal seven cards to each player.

    • 3

Put the rest of the cards down in a face-down pile. This pile is now the draw pile.

    • 4

Flip over the card that's on the top of the deck and place it next to the draw pile. This card is the start of the discard pile. The person to the dealer's left has to follow the instructions of the card if it's a face card. If it's a Wild card, the dealer gets to pick which color to change the discard pile to.

    Play

    • 5

Start play with the person to the left of the dealer. This person must put down a card that is the same color, number or face card in the discard pile. If the person does not have a card that corresponds with the one in the discard pile, he must take a card from the draw pile. He must keep drawing cards until he finds one that he can put down in the discard pile. Play continues to his left.

    • 6

Place a Reverse card into the discard pile and play reverses. So if play was going left, it will be reversed to the right and if play was going right, it will be reversed to the left.

    • 7

Put down a Draw Two card and the person who is next to the player must draw two cards and skip a turn.

    • 8

Put a Skip card down and this will skip the next player.

    • 9

Put down a Wild card and choose a color you would like to change to.

    • 10

Place a Wild Card Draw Four card down and pick what color you would like to change it to. The next player then has to draw four cards and skip a turn.

    • 11

Play a Best of Both Worlds card and force every player but you to pick up an extra card. You also get to pick a new color for the discard pile. Or, if a player puts down a Wild Draw Four card, you can block it and not draw four by putting this card down. However, whatever color the person with the Wild called out can't be changed.

    • 12

Yell "UNO" when you have one card left in your hand. If you have one card, don't yell "UNO" and are caught by other players, you must draw two extra cards from the draw pile.

    Winning and Scoring

    • 13

Win a round by being the first to discard all your cards. If you discard a Draw Two, Wild Draw Four, or Best of Both Worlds card as your last card, the next person after you must draw the number of cards instructed.

    • 14

Score the game by giving all the points to the winner of that round. Points are determined by what cards are in other players' hands. Number cards are worth their face value; Reverse, Skip and Draw Two cards are worth 20 points; Wild, Wild Draw Four and Best of Both World Cards are worth 50 points.

    • 15

Reach 500 points and you win the game.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you run out of cards before the game is over, reshuffle the draw pile while leaving the top card intact.

  • When playing multiple rounds, the dealer becomes the person to the left of the dealer in the previous round.
