Iron-on patches give jeans texture and color

Iron-on patches not only patch up holes in jeans and other clothing, they also add decoration to the clothing. However, if a patch is not ironed on correctly it will soon peel off, especially on thicker fabrics like denim. There's no need to resort to sewing the patch on, though. If you use the right heat settings, you can iron a patch onto a pair of jeans in a snap. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Wet a washcloth with water and gently scrub the area where the patch will be ironed on so that it's clean and free of dirt. Allow the jeans to air dry.

    • 2

Place the jeans flat on the ironing board and place a pillowcase or towel directly over the spot where the patch will be ironed on.

    • 3

Turn the iron on its hottest setting without steam and press it onto the pillowcase with the jeans underneath for 10 seconds.

    • 4

Lift up the pillowcase, place the patch in the proper spot, and place the pillowcase over it.

    • 5

Press the iron down on the patch, through the pillowcase, for 20 seconds.

    • 6

Allow the jeans and the patch to cool completely before handling them.
