How to Crochet a Scarf with a Q Hook
Don’t be intimidated by your large size Q crochet hook. Make a quick and easy yet elegant scarf using small amounts of fancy yarn and simple stitches. Using just one ball of yarn creates a lacy scarf. If using very thin yarn, double or triple the yarn strands with complimentary colors. For example, one 50 gram ball of mohair with a carrying strand of thin glittery yarn makes one scarf. Once you get the pattern down, you can make this accessory in just a few hours. But be warned—these scarves are highly addictive!

Make 2 single crochet in the last chain. Join with slip stitch in 1st stitch, chain 1, turn.

Finish the scarf in one of two ways: make a scallop edging or add fringe. To make the scallop edging, join contrasting yarn with slip stitch in any stitch, *single crochet in the next single crochet, skip 1 single crochet, 3 double crochet in next singe crochet, skip 1 single crochet. Repeat from * around. To make fringe, count the number of stitches on each end of the scarf. Cut as many strands of fringe, 8 inches long, as there are stitches or, for a thicker fringe, cut 2-3 times as many strands. Double the strands over a smaller, for example, size G, crochet hook and knot the strands into each stitch on scarf ends.
