Avoid touching the transfer roller with your hands.

The transfer roller helps to keep the paper straight and smooth as it moves through the printer and past the toner cartridge. Over time, that transfer roller becomes worn, and when it does you might see more frequent paper jams, especially under the toner cartridge. If you start to see paper jamming up under the toner cartridge, chances are the transfer roller needs to be changed. You can change this piece yourself, but you need to be careful when handling the roller.
