How to Store Corn Bread Mix
Store corn bread mix to extend its freshness. Proper storage protects the mix from moisture and extreme temperature changes. When stored correctly, the mix should last as least as long as its "use by" date and possibly far beyond. Empty the corn bread mix into a sealable plastic bag or covered container, if storing a homemade mixture. Keep store-bought mixes in their original packaging.

If using a plastic bag, partially seal, squeeze the air out of the bag and finish sealing.

If using a covered container, make sure to seal the lid completely.

Place the bag or container on a pantry shelf, in a cupboard or in another location that maintains a consistent room temperature.

Store homemade corn bread mixes up to 6 months. Commercial product manufacturers advise using their product within about 14 months.

Tips & Warnings
Some homemade mixes call for adding margarine or butter to the mix. If using a recipe with either margarine or butter, store it in a covered container or bag in the refrigerator or freezer. Use the mixture within 1 month.
