How to Find Out Your Likes & Dislikes Before Marriage thumbnail
Know your partner well before embarking on the married life.

Marriage is the ultimate test of friendship. There is really no way to predict how a marriage will turn out. Only time will tell. However, marriage should not be rushed into. It takes time and effort to truly get to know someone --- and even then, the someone you know may be completely different after marriage. Each person must spend time with the other, honestly and openly, getting to know each other well before deciding to embark on life together.

Instructions

  1. Getting to Know Your Partner

    • 1

Spend plenty of time together. Run errands together, do chores together and take vacations together. Try to discover what normal married life would be like with the other person before deciding on marriage.

    • 2

Be honest. Never lie to your partner, even if the lie is small. Of course, you never want to insult your partner but you also should not keep them in the dark. If you have family issues, financial problems, or there is something about your partner that unsettles you, you need to bring these things out in the open sooner rather than later.

    • 3

Know your deal-breakers. There will always be things you both love and hate about your partner. And there are things they love and hate about you. No one is perfect and no one should strive for perfection or expect perfection. However, there are some things that you just might not be okay with. Watch for behaviors in your partner that could be a deal-breaker --- and be sure to talk it over with them fully, rationally, and calmly before deciding your plan of action.

    • 4

Plan for a long engagement. If you've found the one for you, even if you've only been dating for a short time, it is okay to get engaged. Try each other on. Live like a married couple as much as possible for as long as possible. You'll discover things you don't like about your partner soon enough. You'll also discover things you love and can't live without soon enough as well.
