How to Customize Group URLs in Facebook

Save

A Facebook Group is a way for a group of people to privately share information on Facebook. When you first set up a Facebook Group, the Group URL contains a long string of numbers. You can access a Group anytime via your Facebook homepage. However, with a customized URL in the form of "facebook.com/groups/groupalias" (with no quotes and where "groupalias" is whatever you designate), members can easily access the Group from the address bar of a Web browser. You can customize the URL for a Facebook Group by customizing the Group email address handle.

Things You'll Need

  • Facebook account
  • Facebook Group
  • Log in to Facebook with your Facebook user email address and password.

  • Click the name of the group in the left menu column of your Facebook homepage. This takes you to the group profile.

  • Click the "Edit Group" button in the upper-right-hand corner of your screen.

  • Click the "Set Up Group Email" button next to "Email Address" in the middle of the group edit page. A pop-up window appears.

  • Type a group alias (no spaces) in the box and click the "Create Email" button. The Group URL is simultaneously and permanently set as "facebook.com/groups/groupalias."
