Instructions

1
Apply a long press-on nail to one of your index fingers. If you already have long nails, you can skip this step.
-
2
Fill a large mixing bowl with damp sand. If the sand is dry, add small amounts of water and mix it in with your hands until the sand feels damp and heavy.
-
-
3
Smooth down the surface of the sand with your hand to make it as flat as possible.
-
4
Extend your index finger with the long nail attached and push it straight down into the sand. Hold your finger in this position for a moment and then slowly pull it straight up and out of the sand. The impression left behind in the sand is the mold for your finger candle.
-
5
Repeat step four as many times as necessary. Each impression in the sand will render one Halloween finger candle.
-
6
Cut a candle wick approximately 3 inches longer than your finger for each finger candle.
-
7
Insert one wick into each finger impression carefully and push it down approximately 1/2 inch into the sand at the bottom of the impression.
-
8
Measure 1/2 cup of green wax crystals or pellets for each finger into a wax boil bag. Wax boil bags are heavy-duty plastic bags that will not melt when exposed to boiling water or hot wax.
-
9
Place the wax-filled boil bag into a pot of boiling water for several minutes. As soon as the wax is melted, remove the bag from the water.
-
10
Pour the melted wax slowly into each finger impression while you hold the wick straight up to keep it in the center of the impression.
-
11
Place the mixing bowl in a cool, dry place for 24 hours.
-
12
Pull the cool, dry finger candles out of the sand with your hands. Wipe away all of the sand with a rag.
-
13
Paint the nail on each finger with water-based craft paint to finish your Halloween finger candles.
