If you click on links or internet ads linked to malicious sources, your computer can become infected with spyware and your email box flooded with spam. The easiest way to avoid spam and spyware is to not click on any internet ads or links for downloads that you did not request. However, if you get a computer virus or begin to get massive amounts of spam, there are ways to fix it.

Download AVG: Free Edition from avg.com. AVG is a type if spam and spyware prevention and elimination software that is free to use.

Open the AVG interface from your start menu.

Click on "full computer scan." The scan can take any where from five minutes to five hours, so be patient.

Click on "eliminate threats" when the scan is complete. This will eliminate any spyware on your computer and prevent spammers from getting your email.
