How to Turn Off Subtitles on YouTube

Save

YouTube allows you to see certain videos with closed captioning, but this feature might get annoying when you don't know how to turn it off. Since YouTube has made the feature optional, you also have the option to remove closed captioning from any video that you watch which includes it. The video website does not include the option, unfortunately, in an easy place to spot.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer with an Internet connection
  • Access the YouTube video you would like to turn off the subtitles for.

  • Pause the video by pressing the small pause button on the lower left corner of the video.

  • Click the up-pointing arrow on the lower right corner of the YouTube video and click "CC." When it grays out, you know subtitles no longer appear on the video. If you don't see an up-pointing arrow, click the "CC" button which appears on the lower left area of the video.

  • Continue playing the video by clicking the small button on the lower left corner of the video.
