How to BBQ Rib Eye Steak
Rib-eye steaks are well-known for being tender and highly flavorful, essential qualities if you intend to grill them. Rib-eyes are most often sold in large steaks, so two people can easily split one. Rib-eyes are best prepared simply; just a few seasonings and quick cooking times will give you the best results. To really let your steak shine, keep the additional condiments to a minimum. Serve rib-eye with uncomplicated side dishes. Baked potatoes, roasted vegetables, or sauteed greens make a perfect pair. Does this Spark an idea?

Select steaks between 1 and 1 1/2 inches thick. The thickness of the steak plays a big role in cooking times, so talk with your butcher if you can't find a steak the right size. Each steak should weigh about 1 lb.

Rub both sides of each steak generously with coarse salt and pepper. If you wish, you may also rub the steaks with a few spices like chili powder, cayenne pepper, or garlic powder. Don't over-do it with spices though; you want the steak's natural flavors to shine through.

Place the steaks on a hot grill over medium-high heat. Grill for about six minutes on each side for a medium-rare 1 1/2-inch steak. If your steak is larger or your prefer it more well done, add another minute or so on each side.

Remove the steaks from the grill and allow them to rest for 5 to 10 minutes on a plate or cutting board. The steaks will continue cooking during this period, so don't disturb them.

Tips & Warnings
If you wish, you can top your steaks with a simple garlic-herb butter for an extra kick. Mix together softened butter, minced garlic, herbs, and a splash of red wine. Chill in the refrigerator until the steaks are ready.
