How to Make My eBay Account Private

Most information on your eBay account is already private. Only people you buy from or sell to can see your name and address. The only piece of information that's public by default, aside from your user name, is your eBay feedback profile. The feedback profile lists comments from sellers and buyers along with detailed information about items you've recently purchased or sold. You can hide this information by making your feedback profile private. If you make your feedback profile private, you can only buy items on eBay, not sell them. Your total feedback score will still be public.

  • Open the eBay Feedback Forum Web page.

  • Click the "Make Feedback Public or Private" link in the Feedback Tools box at the right side of the page.

  • Sign in to your eBay account, if you're not already signed in, by typing your username and password into the "User ID" and "Password" boxes on the Web page that appears and clicking "Sign In."

  • Click the "Make Your Feedback Profile Private" option on the page.

  • Click the "Save" button on the page.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some sellers won't sell to you if you make your feedback profile private. A public feedback profile increases the trust other users have in you.
