A clay mask is a hero beauty product that has a place in every skincare regimen. When applied, the clay attracts built up dirt and dead skin cells, which get washed away once you rinse off the mask. Clay masks dry within 10 to 20 minutes when exposed to air, so any leftovers must be stored immediately, quickly and properly to keep it usable.

Lay a sheet of plastic wrap flat on a table.

Spoon the leftover clay mask onto the center of the plastic wrap. If you have a large amount of clay to store, use a large sheet of plastic wrap to avoid overfilling.

Fold the sides of the plastic wrap over the clay mask in the center. Do not let any air become trapped between the plastic wrap and clay mask, as this will dry out the clay.

Place the wrapped clay mask into a plastic sandwich bag and press all of the air out before sealing it.

Store the plastic bag in a cool, dark place until ready to use.

Tip

Repackage any unused portion of the mask in a new sheet of plastic wrap after opening.

Discard the leftover clay mask if you do not use it within one year.
