Instructions

    • 1

Buy a white or blue long-handled basket. Choose a sturdy basket with a smooth outer surface.

    • 2

Paint the toddler boy's first name on the front of the basket. Buy letter stencils where craft supplies are sold or paint the letters yourself. Use dark blue paint for the letters. If the little boy has expressed a preference for a favorite color, use that instead of blue.

    • 3

Decorate the rest of the outside of the basket. Paint simple shapes --- stars, bunny faces or eggs --- all over the outer surface of the basket. Look for Easter-themed sponge-painting assortments at craft stores to dip into paint and stamp onto the basket. If the little boy is a fan of a specific activity or sport, use a small brush to paint items that represent his interests onto the basket. Paint orange basketballs for little hoopsters or black-and-white checkered flags for boys who like to watch the race cars go around the track.

    • 4

Tie a 2-inch-wide ribbon into a bow at the base of one side of the handle. Choose a ribbon color to complement the designs and colors you pick for the painted decorations on the basket.

    • 5

Place Easter grass in the basket. Select green grass for a traditional look. Choose an Easter grass color to match the basket and ribbon for a more artistic look.

    • 6

Fill six, pastel-colored plastic eggs with Easter-themed trinkets or treats. Make sure that any small toys you include in the basket are labeled as safe for use by children under 3. Consider healthy treats --- packages of cheese or peanut butter crackers and all-natural fruit-snacks --- instead of candy.

    • 7

Put toddler boy-pleasing playthings in the basket. Place a soft, stuffed bunny in the basket, among the filled plastic eggs. Add a container or two of non-toxic craft dough and a plastic bunny or egg-shaped dough cutter. Tuck in a toddler-safe toy race car or action figure.
