Instructions

    • 1

Cut pieces of yarn measuring between 3 and 4 inches long each.

    • 2

Wrap one piece of yarn around the neck of a latch hook tool, positioning the yarn underneath the latch.

    • 3

Insert the hook under one of the woven threads of the rug backing, and back up through the neighboring hole. Wrap the yarn around the hook and above the latch, then pull the tool back out through the initial hole. The yarn will become knotted onto the backing.

    • 4

Repeat the entire process to cover each woven rug backing thread with a knotted piece of yarn. You can make the entire rug a single color, or you can hook on different colors of yarn to make a picture or a pattern.
