Cool, creamy, and delicious, ice cream is a refreshing vehicle for a myriad of flavors and has found its way into the repertoires of professional chefs as well as the recipe collections of homemakers. American partakers are generally familiar with two main types of ice cream: soft serve and the more common hard pack. To hard pack ice cream, mix the ingredients with a traditional ice cream maker that keeps air content low and store it at a colder temperature until it is dense and firm. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Ice cream maker
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup cream
  • 2 1/4 cup milk
  • Plastic food wrap

Instructions

      Combine sugar, cream and milk in a sauce pan and heat it on low until the sugar is melted. Stir the mixture while it is heating.

      Add flavoring of your choice and refrigerate the mixture for a couple of hours or until chilled.

      Pour the chilled mixture into the ice cream maker and churn it for 20 to 25 minutes until it reaches the soft-frozen stage.

      Place the churned mixture in a freezer container. Cover the ice cream with plastic food wrap and place it in the freezer for a few hours or until it has reached your ideal hard-pack consistency.
