Browsing the Internet in high speed helps you appreciate the power of technology.

Most modern browsers such as Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer are fast enough for most users, there are still ways to improve their speed. Instructions

  1. Internet Explorer

    • 1

      Reduce the amount of information you store in your web page history. Click the "Tools" menu, then go to Internet Options.

    • 2

      Click the "Settings" button in the "General" tab under "Browsing History."

    • 3

      Find the "Days to keep in history" box under the "History" section. Select "1" in the box, then click OK. This will ensure that your browser will only keep one day's worth of information that you previously accessed.

    • 4

      Delete cookies and Internet files under the "Temporary Internet" files tab manually to free up your browser from unnecessary clutter.

    Mozilla Firefox

    • 5

      Type "about:config" into the address and press Enter on your keyboard to access the network settings for the Mozilla Firefox browser.

    • 6

      Scroll down until you find the following entries:

      network.http.pipelining

      network.http.proxy.pipelining

      network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

      Altering these entries will enable Firefox to make several requests at once from the websites you access, which speeds up page loading at a much higher pace.

    • 7

      Set the following lines to "true" to allow for Firefox network pipeline to accept additional page load requests.

      network.http.pipelining="true"

      network.http.proxy.pipelining="true"

      Now set the maximum request for the network pipeline by specifying the number of requests you want Firefox network pipeline to process.

      network.http.pipelining.maxrequests="30"

      These modifications will set your browser to make 30 requests at once from any website. This in turn will facilitate faster loading of pages.

      Right-click anywhere on the window and select "New, Integer." Label it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its corresponding value to "0b." This value signifies the time needed for Firefox to act when it receives a request for action. Next, run your browser to test your browsing speed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Only apply these changes if you have a broadband connection as it will not work much for any other slower connection.

  • Do not adjust your browser's parameters if you have no other alternatives or means to access the Internet.

  • Do not apply the changes to Firefox if you are uncomfortable because it can ruin your browser's setup.
