How to Teach Spanish With Songs
The Spanish language is one that is spoken all over the world and in the United States. You can teach Spanish to children in a variety of ways. One effective method for teaching a new language to children is through song. Presenting the material in both English and Spanish helps children make the connection between the two languages. You can find a variety of children's songs in both Spanish and English to use in your classroom.

- Music player

Choose any age-appropriate song that you can find in both Spanish and English to use for this activity. Search for options at your local library in the music section, or ask your school's music teacher for ideas.

Prepare the lesson by writing out the words to the song in both Spanish and English. Use a large poster board and a bold marker so that the child can easily follow along.

Play the song in English so that the child can hear it in the language most familiar to him. Allow him to follow along with the poster you created before the lesson.

Play the song in Spanish. Follow each word as it is sung using the Spanish version of the poster.

Choose three vocabulary words from the song to highlight and define. Have the student write these words on note cards. On one side, she should write the English word, and on the other, the Spanish word. Review these notecards on a daily basis.

Repeat these steps with different vocabulary words each day. As the student becomes more familiar with the process, allow him to choose his on words to study for the lesson.

Repeat this lesson many times using the same song. As the child learns the words and tune, she will automatically be able to translate more of the Spanish words.
